Today, almost mathematics teacher still implement mathematics traditional learning. It means that teacher is center of the teaching learning. Teacher always explain the content, give example, give question, and then give the task with clasical method. There are some problem that teacher have:
1. Facilitating students in mathematics learning
2. Encourage low rank students to improve performance
3. Encourage students to be active learner
4. Use and develop equipment for teaching learning process
5. Encourage students to cooperate with others in their learning
Development of teaching method is based on recommendation of Cockroft Report (1982), that suggest in each level of mathematics learning should be teacher’s chance to implement one or some of the flexible method, they are expocition method, discussion method, given task method, investigation, probelm solving method, and method of using equipment in teaching. The action research about problem in mathematics teaching and learning bounded by teaching style that reflected by teaching method thyat develop at specific class at specific time. So that the consistent of teaching contexts are classroom, student, and teachers themself. While the contexts of teaching that can be change are teaching method, teaching style, and another aspects, including content, reference, and time. Development of teaching mathematics method through action research to overcome the problem teacher service to the students give positive influences, but there are some constraint at the realization. The constraint may be a technique, academic, and sosio-cultural. Teachers effort to solve problems that have been mention above are:
1. Developing student worksheet
2. Creating learning group
3. Developing discussion method
4. Developing equipment for teaching and educational media
The effort of teacher to develop teaching model can be conclude that:
a. Teachers still have difficulty to fulfill demand academic of students
b. Tearcher not develop yet about schema
c. Teachers have succesed to create condition to encourage cooperation between the students and encourage students to be active learner, but there is difficulty at the development of the schema
d. Teachers have work to develop discussion method, problem solving, and giving task method, but still have difficulty to develop the schema
e. Generally, teachers have work to develop teaching method appropriate with the aim of the research, but teachers still have difficulty in technique, academic, and fundamental.
