REVITALISASI PENDIDIKAN MATEMATIKA Oleh Marsigit

Jaworski (1994: 40) state that there is no best way to teach mathematics. Revitalization means the needs of effort to formulate mathematics teaching model that aappropriate with condition and global development.
Ebutt and Straker (1995: 60-75) state that to develop optimal student’s potention, we must consider this assumption:
1.       Students will study if they get motivation
2.       Students study with their own way
3.       Students study autonomuosly and cooperationly
4.       Students need different situation and context on their learning
Revitalization on education is effort for an expert of mathematics education to do self reflection then faced in multilema decision maker based on deepthly study on new paradigm. It is not easy to do revitalization on education without awareness and great spirit at macro and micro in education world. This is suggestion may be useful for teacher in conducting teaching learning process:
1.       Teaching preparation stage:
a.       Planning environtment for mathematics learning : determine references, make lesson plan, plan the physical environment of learning mathematics, develop student’s social environtment, etc.
b.      Planning for Mathematics activity : plan activites according to student ability, develop mathematical topics, plan balanced mathematics activities in term material, time, and activities, etc.
2.       Teaching stage :
a.       Develop teacher role: encourage and develop students understanding, give chance to the students to demonstrate their ability, let the students make mistake, encourage students to responsible their learning, etc.
b.      Set the time to whom and when do mathematics activity with or not with students : develop students experiences, set time allocation, set up feedback, etc.
3.       Evaluation stage :
a.       Observing student’s activities : what students mastered and not mastered,
b.      Teacher evaluate their own: what have teacher do and reach, what will teacher do, from where and what help do teacher need, etc
c.       Assess understand, process, skill, facts, and result
d.      Assess result and monitoring students achievement
