Research is acitivity to get knowledge. It done by certain sistematic procedure and support by method. Teacher or teacher candidate required to always discuss how to get knowledge about teaching matematics due trend. The scope of mathematics education research can come from motivation from researcher to reform mathematics education which is known that mathematics education inovation can be sources from conseptual factors, values, empirical, and politically.
Based on Joyce and Weill there are some teaching model that can be develop as context of mathematics education research, in example group investigation, laboratory, simulation, social research, research exercise, concept achievement, etc.
Approach scientis mathematics teaching can be done by quantitative research and qualitative research. Quantitatif research in mathematics teaching rely on science method to find rules, law, and principles about the fact teaching mathematics in school. Quantitative research state that learning mathematics are objective and measurable. Experiment can be done by manipulated measurable variable by quantitative so that we can know relation between some variable of teaching learning mathematics. If teacher want to reform mathematics education then research in mathematics education will become necessity.
There are some benefit from research in mathematics education:
1.      Legal formal aspect
2.      Know difference between individual or group in learning mathematics
3.      Know student’s position (rank) in a class
4.      Comparing learning outmomes between a group and another group
5.      The result of the research can be used to refine program, guidance, and giving information to the public.
6.      And then, improve mathematics education program as a whole
